Angel moved to North Idaho almost 20 years ago when her parents bought land in the backwoods of Priest River. She grew up in a cult, became a child bride at the age of 13, and had her first son when she had just turned 15. She was never enrolled in school, wasn’t allowed to drive, had no medical care, and hadn’t even set foot in a library until she was over 18 years old. Through a series of events, she found help out of severe domestic violence and cult abuse through Priest River Ministries Advocates for Women. With their help, she was tutored and earned her GED at the age of 21, learned how to drive, got her first job, and moved into her own apartment. She attended support groups there for 6 years until she moved to Sandpoint with her second then-husband. Unfortunately, it took her 6 years to leave that abusive marriage as well.
While struggling through poverty, raising five children, and going through two divorces, Angel has overcome seemingly insurmountable odds to achieve freedom, education, and independence. She graduated with her dual Associate degrees in Communication and Social Work from NIC in 2024. Because of her story and experiences, she brings a deep understanding and empathy to her work. She has received assistance from countless community organizations throughout the years–so she knows what it’s like to be in need! She is a fierce advocate for equality and inclusion–and she just loves people.
Angel believes in living life passionately and to the very fullest–as so much time was taken from her in her youth. As she’s grown and explored, she’s found a few of her favorite things are: breaking generational trauma, swing dancing, snowboarding, playing the drums, making and drinking coffee, writing poetry, weightlifting, and the beautiful lakes and mountains of the Pacific Northwest.
