Many individuals in our community are unable to qualify for insurance through the Affordable Care Act and do not have Medicare or Medicaid. Healthcare services for those in these circumstances are listed here.
Here are some resources that may be able to help when a medical need arises:
- Bonner General Health
Bonner General Health is a hospital and healthcare network of clinics providing outpatient services and programs. We offer multiple free support and educational meetings, including: Bereavement support groups, Better Breathers Club for people with chronic lung diseases, Childbirth Education, Diabetes Education and Support, and Parkinson’s support group meetings. Our BGH Cares program provides financial assistance to patients who are financially indigent or have limited or no financial resources to pay for medical care. Please contact a financial advocate in our Business Office at 208-265-1158 with billing questions, or to see if you qualify for payment assistance.

- Bonner Partners in Care Clinic
The Clinic is for uninsured residents who might not otherwise be able to obtain medical treatment. Patients with private insurance, Medicaid, Medicare and the ability to pay are not eligible.
HOURS/DAYS: 5:30 PM, on Tuesdays
LOCATION: The Panhandle Health District office at 2101 Pine Street, Sandpoint.
COST: We do not charge for services provided at the clinic, but your donation is welcome. The cost of a typical doctor's office visit is $140-$180, and any amount that you can afford will help us to offset that cost and continue providing services for other uninsured members of our community.
Service is first-come, first served, so it is recommended to get there by 5:00 p.m.

- Kaniksu Health Services
Kaniksu Health Services is a comprehensive community health center open to everyone regardless of their ability to pay or their insurance status. Kaniksu has a sliding scale fee based on household income and accepts Medicare, Medicaid and all forms of insurance.

VA services are under contract with the Spokane VAMC, provides primary care, laboratory and emergency pharmacy needs to Veterans who live in and around North Idaho, Northwest Montana and Northeast Washington. Clinical Pharmacist on staff.

Kaniksu is a state approved Substance Use Disorder Service (SUDS) approved treatment facility through the Department of Health and Welfare's Division of Behavioral Health. The Division of Behavioral Health's SUDS Program can provided assistance if you need help with a drug or alcohol problem.
Interpreter services and language are available for anyone, including those with limited English speaking ability, the deaf and hard of hearing, and the blind and visually impaired.

Panhandle Health District offers a variety of medical services to care for you and your family, whether you have insurance or not. Services are available in Sandpoint and Bonners Ferry. Many of our services are on a sliding scale based on income and family size.

WIC improves the health of North Idaho women, infants, and children by providing the most advanced nutrition information, resources and breastfeeding support within a safe, compassionate and respectful environment that will lead to a lifetime of healthy choices.
Nurse-Family Partnership is an evidence-based program with more than three decades of research demonstrating an improvement in pregnancy outcomes for women as well as an improvement in the health and development of their babies.
Parents as Teachers is a free, voluntary, evidence-based program that promotes optimal early development, learning and health of young children by supporting and engaging their parents and caregivers.
Senior Companions Program is a volunteer program that provides companionship and respite care to the elderly and disabled. Sponsored by Panhandle Health District, it serves the five northern counties: Benewah, Bonner, Boundary, Kootenai, and Shoshone. It allows low income senior volunteers an opportunity to assist those who need minor help to continue living independently.
